Investigates environmental and genetic factors associated with muscle loss with aging and responses to preventative interventions, specifically resistance training. Ongoing studies exam the influence of specific macro- and micro-nutrients on muscle mass gain with 12 weeks of resistance training in 50 to 69-year-old men and women. Goal is a nutrition protocol to control and optimize nutrition to a degree that studies of how genetic variations influence the response can begin.
